General FAQ
- What does it cost to buy images and ringtones?
-
Content on Jivjiv.com is priced at $0.99 for content that we (Jivjiv) currently sell. However,
individual store owners have the option to price their content either at $0.99, $1.99 or $2.99.
- When will I receive my purchase?
-
While Jivjiv.com takes every effort to deliver your content as quickly
as possible, if your phone network is very busy it could take several
minutes before your content arrives. Remember, before purchasing anything
make sure that you test your phone with our sample content.
Jivjiv.com also makes additional efforts to re-deliver messages to your phone within
the first 24 hours after you purchase something. If you receive additional messages from
Jivjiv.com, this is part of the redundancy we build in to improve reliability. You are not
double-billed for items.
- Do I need an internet-enabled phone?
-
To receive polyphonic tones, real tunes or color images, you will need
an internet-ready phone and be able to receive SMS messages.
Make sure that your internet service is enabled. Contact your carrier if you need
additional information on how to enable your internet service.
- There are many different formats, which one do I want to purchase?
-
Jivjiv makes every effort to deliver the ringtone or image in the format that
your phone can support. However, the phones do not always give us the correct information.
Therefore, it is important that you test your phone with our sample content
before you make any purchases.
Please note, all ringtone content being sold in individual user stores are Real Tunes.
Please be sure to test with the Jivjiv Real Tune free content to make sure your phone
can support that format. You will find the Jivjiv Real Tune test content on our
test page.
- What are the differences between Polyphonic and Real Tune formats?
-
Polyphonic ringtones utilize many instrumental sounds in an attempt to achieve a
close approximation to the sound of the original song. Real Tunes are sampled versions
and sound very close to the original song. All ringtones sold from our user stores are
Real Tunes.
Registration FAQ
- I've registered but I have not received my confirmation email. What went wrong?
-
When you sign-up for an account on jivjiv.com, we depend on you to enter your
email address correctly. If you mistype your email or enter one where we can not contact you
then we are unable to send your confirmation email. Please
be sure to double-check that you are entering your correct email address when you sign up.
If you entered your email address correctly but still not received your confirmation email,
there might be a delay in the mail processing. In general, mail is delivered very quickly but occasionally,
delays are encountered. If you have not received your confirmation email after a
tolerable delay, try using the Resend Confirmation page.
Purchasing FAQ
- I want to buy something, how am I billed?
-
We bill using Premium SMS. This allows the Jivjiv purchases to show up directly on your cell phone bill.
All sales are final, so please be sure to test your phone before you
purchase anything. We do not bill your cell phone until after you have successfully downloaded the ringtone.
- Is my credit card safe? (used premium store subscriptions only)
-
Yes! Jivjiv.com uses the SSL secure protocol for all transactions where
you enter your credit card information to ensure that your information
is safe. Look in your browser for the indication that you
are on a secure page when you are ordering from our site to be sure that
we are protecting your data.
Downloading FAQ
- I did not receive my order, what happened?
-
Transmitting the ordered content to your cell phone is not a guaranteed
service. However, Jivjiv will continue to try to deliver your content
over the next 24 hours after your order. If you have not received
your order after 1 day, please contact our support department.
- I received several of the same message to confirm my order, do I need to
reply to them all?
-
You do not need to reply to them, but you can if you would like to. We
send out the messages to your phone several times. If you respond to our
confirm message and receive your download message, then you can ignore
the other messages.
Tokens FAQ
- What are Jivjiv Tokens?
- Jivjiv Tokens are being phased out. If you have tokens in your account, you will
still be able to use them. However, you will no longer be able to purchase additional
tokens.
Stores FAQ
- Why does my content not show up when I browse my store?
- All content is reviewed by Jivjiv prior to it being displayed to the public.
You can review the status of your content by surfing to the Manage Store page.
The following guide indicates the status for each content item in your Store:
|

|
Pending indicates an item has not yet been reviewed.
|
Declined indicates an item will not be displayed.
|
- What type of songs are available from the stores?
- Currently, Real tunes are the only type of ring tones available through
the stores. Test your phone with our Jivjiv Real Tune.
Affiliates FAQ
- How much do I earn from my affiliates?
- You will earn 5% per purchase from each item sold through an affiliated store.
- How do I create an affiliate?
- On your My Affiliates page, you will see a text box labeled "New Affiliate Code".
Enter your desired affiliate code in that text box and select the "add affiliate" button.
If that code is available, we'll assign it to you and it will appear in your list of affiliates.
- How many affiliate codes can I create?
- You can have an unlimited number of affiliate codes.
- What happens when I disable an affiliate code?
- When an affiliate code is disabled, any future signups using that code will no
longer be affiliated with your account.
Payments FAQ
- What does "pending" indicate in my list of payments?
-
This means that we have tallied up the money due to you from your
store sales and affiliations and we are in the process of sending you a check
for the indicated amount. Once the check has been written and sent, we will update
the site to include the date it was issued and the check number.
- Are my store sales and affiliate earnings kept separately?
-
You will receive a single check for the outstanding amount owed to you regardless
of how it was earned. Money you earn from sales of items in your stores will be
included along with money earned from your affiliations.
Phone Support FAQ
- I downloaded a ringtone succesfully, but my phone will not let me set it as my ringtone. What do I do?
-
Well, hopefully you will not run into this problem because you tested your phone out with our free
content first! But, if you do run into this problem, send us a message
and let us know
your cell phone number and the order number. We are working on supporting additional formats to help
reduce this problem and it may be just a matter of resending you a download message once we have your format supported.
- I tried to download the ringtone but I keep receiving an error message. What is the problem?
-
Unfortunately, cell phones give incredibly poor status information, especially
when you are attempting to use these phones for file transfer via the internet. These error messages that
the phones and/or carriers display can often be misleading. And it is next to impossible to try to
debug every error message from every carrier on every cell phone supported in the U.S. If you receive an
error message, try to re-download the file again. If it persists, wait a few minutes (or longer if you have the time),
since the carrier may be having trouble in your local cell area. If it still persists, please contact us
and let us know and we will try to help as best we can.
- I downloaded a ringtone succesfully, but it doesn't really play or has some stuttering. What should I do?
-
Some of our original content were not all converted correctly. If you download a ringtone
that plays but has no sound or plays but with some stuttering, please send us a message.
We'll re-convert the ringtone so you can download it again.
- I downloaded the ringtone, but it is shorter than the sample I heard. Why?
-
Some phones have strict size requirements and as a result can only support 8-15 seconds of ringtone. If you
try to download a ringtone and receive an error like "Bad Gateway", "File Too Large" or
"Internal Error", then it is likely the current size of the download is too large for your
phone. Please contact us and we can try to shrink the size of the download to fit your phone (note: this
does mean you will receive less of the ringtone).
- Do you support the Sidekick?
-
Unfortunately, the Sidekick is currently incompatible with our service. We are working
to solve the problem. Stay tuned!
- I thought you supported Sprint PCS, what happened?
-
As of mid April 2006, we now support Sprint PCS again!
- My carrier is not currently supported by Jivjiv. What can I do?
-
Please send us a quick note saying which carrier
you use so we can note it.
