Welcome to the Jivjiv Store Setup Guide... otherwise known as:

How to open a store in under five minutes!

1. First you need to set up an account on Jivjiv.com - if you haven't already done this, register now. Once you've registered and activated your account via the confirmation email, please go to step 2.

2. Welcome to step 2. By now you should have completed the activation of your new account on Jivjiv.com - if not - go to step one. Now click on the

button in near the top left corner of the screen.

3. You will now see the blue buttons with the last one labeled "my store" - click on it!

4. You will be taken to a page has the following information:

Click on the yellow "add store ->" button to create your store and you will see a screen with the following information:

5. Fill in the following information:

- Store ID

As the page states, the Store ID is a 3 to 15 character ID that will uniquely identify your store. Every store has a page at http://jivjiv.com/StoreID - where StoreID is your Store ID.

For example, if your Store ID is "natural", your store page would be: http://jivjiv.com/natural

- Name
- Description

This is where you put the name and description of your store. Enter whatever you want, as long as it's in accordance with the Jivjiv Stores Operator Agreement. The name and description will show up on your store page when people come to visit.

- Listing

Choose whether or not you want your store to be listed in the Jivjiv Stores directory. To generate greater exposure and revenue, we recommend you list your store.

Read the Jivjiv Stores Operator Agreement, click on the I Agree check box and then click on the yellow "add store ->" button.

Providing that there are no problems with your information, you will be taken to a page that has the following:

6. Your store is now open but not particularly interesting since there's nothing to buy so let's add some stuff.

Click on the yellow "add item -> button" and a page will be shown with the following information:

7. Click on the "Choose File" button and select the first item from your computer for your new Jivjiv Store. If you're uploading wallpaper/graphic files, the file must be in a JPEG, GIF, or PNG format. We take images that are up to 2Mb in size and we rescale the images for the phones. The phone sizes range from 100x100 pixels to 250x250.

If you want to upload a ringtone, Jivjiv currently supports the MP3 format. The ringtones should be no longer than 30 seconds in length (no full songs please!). And, if you are encoding the MP3s, using 80kbit rate is enough for the phones. In the future, we'll be supporting more formats so stay tuned!

After you've selected the file, enter a title and a price. Make sure you've read and understood the Jivjiv Stores Operator Agreement and then click on the "add item ->" button.

There are two types of Stores, Basic and Premium. The Premium Store generates more money for the operator than a Basic Store. Below lists a comparison between Basic and Premium stores:

Please note the current pricing model as described above may change in the future as we offer additional and/or improved services.

(At this point, you may be saying to yourself something along of the lines of "Dang! That's a really small percentage I'm getting back. Why is Jivjiv taking so much money?" Good question but in truth, we're actually not. Currently the carriers take half of every sale. Yes, 50% of it! If something is sold for $.99, about $.50 is left for Jivjiv to pay all of ours costs and still pay out a royalty to the artists. In the future, we hope these costs Jivjiv incurs will be reduced and we can increase the payments to our store operators.)

After you click, the button will change to "Please wait, uploading..." Do as it says and please wait. Do not hit the back button or your item may not upload correctly.

Once an item has been successfully uploaded, it will appear in your Manage Store page. However, the item will not be available to the public until Jivjiv has reviewed the content. You can view the status for each piece of content you have uploaded on the same Manage Store page.

You will now be taken to a page that has the following:

At this point, your store is open for business. Congratulations! You can have up to 20 items in your store so upload lots of original music and graphics to give your visitors the best possible experience. Also, in the current store header section, you can click on the "change ->" button and choose either one of our stock banners or upload your own store graphic header. Note, your graphic file must be 666w x 102h in dimension and less than 150k in size.
